With news in prior years mostly revolving around confirmed and unconfirmed rumors infused with desperate hope, we’re suddenly bombarded with relevant Avalanches tidbits solid enough to joyfully grasp with our bare hands. Obviously, we’re all aware by now of the elusive Australian outfit’s finally-released new album, and subsequent to that, their relevance to music fans just keeps on presenting itself. Hopefully you’re one of those realistic people who at least understands that some bad news inevitably comes with the good.
The good comes in the form of Since I Left You getting a vinyl reissue that’s otherwise been mostly unheard of since the original release back in 2000. That’s happening on July 29, and you can pre-order it here, just in case you’re one of the many who were completely astounded by the album at some point in the intervening 16 years (through some other format).
The bad news comes via official word of postponed tour dates in support of Wildflower. The Avalanches had to perform Primavera Sound without a full band due to visa issues, and now actual tour dates have been postponed due to health issues with band member Tony Di Blasi. Check the statement posted to The Avalanches’ Facebook page immediately below.
Thanks to everyone who has supported The Avalanches this year, we are so pleased you are enjoying Wildflower.
Preparations for our live show at Splendour are going well but unfortunately due to a medical condition requiring treatment in Australia, Tony has been advised against international travel for the next few months, so with great disappointment we have had to postpone some forthcoming festival appearances in Europe.
Thanks to everyone worldwide who has made Wildflower such a success, and stay tuned for rescheduled and new live dates soon. Big Love,
The Avalanches.
