WARNING: art-rock this ridiculously funky is liable to make the painfully uncoordinated lose their balance in a hurry. So all y’all nerds who aren’t yet well experienced in the church of GROOVE had best put down any/all babies, curling irons, Olympic barbells, electronic devices, and casks of 200-year-old red wine you may be shouldering before smacking “PLAY” on Baltimore-based, pointillistic art-funk anti-heroes Horse Lords’ exuberant new video for “Encounter I / Transfinite Flow.”
The hypnotic visual whirl that ably accompanies the track’s gathering polyrhythmic squall of Aftro-beat sax, guitar, and drums was created by the band’s own Andrew Bernstein, and it’s also the opening salvo from Horse Lords’ most recent album, Interventions (out now on Northern Spy). Check it out down below, and catch the band on its tour of the US starting… TONIGHT! You’d better start practicing your funkiness, like, right now if you wanna build up a good baseline in time.
