Silver Apples return from the moon with first album since 1998, titled Clinging To A Dream

·

Remember when some clerk in a record store first said to you, “Oh, you like experimental music, psych, and Krautrock stuff? If you haven’t heard this legendary Silver Apples record… you’re NOBODY!”?

Okay, so maybe I’m just imagining that having happened, but only because it FREAKIN’ SHOULD HAVE. I mean: two dudes, one homemade synthesizers, a battalion of Krautrock beats, and lyrics about voltage control and shit? You CANNOT BEAT THAT. Well, unless you’re, ya know, IN Silver Apples like Simeon Coxe. He’s just announced that he’s bringing Silver Apples back to earth for the first time since 1998 with a new album titled Clinging to a Dream. Produced by Graham Sutton in London and recorded at Magic Theatre Music in Fairhope, Alabama, it features “11 new songs” with music and lyrics by Coxe that “carry on the tradition begun in 1967 by Silver Apples of merging pure, raw electronic sounds with melodic poetic content.”

If I was a record store clerk (whatever THOSE are!), I’d push my glasses up on my nose a bit and tell you to pre-order the album now before its imminent release on September 16, despite whatever detriment that may cause to my brick-and-mortar business! Silver Apples are more important than that.
