For those who were asleep or just a concept in the 1980s, Philadelphia’s best-kept punk-rock secret, Ruin, are returning.
As a band that emerged from a slowly imploding city under the Reagan era, it feels pretty timely to have them return as Trump shuffles into the White House, the byproduct (and silver lining) of which will be more disaffected youths to listen to and make more iconic music (we hope).
The band’s return is being aided and abetted by Southern Lord records, who will be re-releasing the band’s two long out-of-print albums, He-Ho (1984) and Fiat Lux (1986). Both will be released in late November but can be pre-ordered now on double vinyl.
Not only that, but the band will also be dusting off their white robes and stocking up on tea light candles to play a rare live show in support of this re-release, which goes down on December 17 at the Barbary in Philly. The ticket price gets you access to the show, the after-party, the re-released albums, and a live DVD. How’s that for a bargain!
