Do you like good music? Do you like to dance? No? Well, surely even the most musically tone-deaf and un-fleet of foot will flock to the floor for the forthcoming one-sided 12-inch single by fabulously demented DJ Nigga Fox, right? Yeeeah, we thought so. Quickly becoming a Lisbon legend in his own time, the Angolan-born Fox is so sly that it is impossible not to be seduced by his playful kuduro/afro-house Portuguese club tracks.
Releases from Lisbon’s increasingly influential Príncipe Discos’ are all characterized by dazzlingly unconventional approaches, and the latest from Nigga Fox is no different. Originally created to accompany an art installation that fell through the cracks, Príncipe has wisely decided that 15 Barras is simply too good not to be heard. The 15-minute, “long form composition” is Fox’s first solo venture since the acclaimed Noite E Dia and will be released officially January 30 via Bandcamp. It’s limited to 500 copies and is hand-stamped and arted-out by Príncipe-favored illustrator (and label co-founder) Márcio Matos.
15 Barras can be pre-ordered right here.
