In just about every episode (if not every single one) of its ongoing, 100+ episode run, FOX animated comedy Bob’s Burgers has featured an original song. Wow, 100+ songs. Say, I’m no “music man,” but wouldn’t that be enough material for an album (or 10)? Well, apparently… yes. Yes, it is. The Bob’s Burgers Music Album is out May 12 on Sub Pop.
Finally, songs like the sultry “Derek Dematopolis,” the undeniably catchy “Taffy Butt,” AND MORE — like, literally 110 more — together at last in one super-sized collection. Basically, if you’ve heard a song on the show, then it’s going to be on this enormous album. That means contributions from the entire main cast (Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, and Kristen Schaal), guest stars (Aziz Ansari, Kevin Kline), and top-shelf singer/songwriters like Cyndi Lauper and Carly Simon. And to up the “indie-cred” factor, there’s also five different cover versions of songs from the show as performed by notable “indie-credible” artists like St. Vincent, The National, Lapsley, and The Magnetic Fields’ Stephin Merritt, each of whom have conversely managed to attain even more “indie-cred” by virtue of being a part of this project.
Visit Sup Pop’s store to view the entire mammoth tracklist and/or pre-order the album on your choice of two-CD set, three-LP set, or 112-MP3/ALAC/FLAC digital set…or even as a “Deluxe Box Set” with lots of fun ingredients:
- 107 songs from the first six seasons of Bob’s Burgers!
- Five versions of songs from the show as performed by St. Vincent, The National, Lapsley, and The Magnetic Fields’ Stephin Merritt!
- Condiment-colored vinyl!
- Three posters for your bedroom, vision board, or creepy alter for worshiping series creator Loren Bouchard!
- A “One-Eyed Snakes” patch for puttin’ on stuff!
- Six stickers for stickin’ on stuff!
- Lyrics and sheet music so you can record your own versions of the songs on accordion, upload them to YouTube, and receive hateful comments accusing you of trying to ripoff Weird Al’s shtick!
While you’re waiting (and salivating) for May 12 to get here, don’t forget that Bob’s Burgers is currently in its seventh season, airing Sundays at 7:30 EST on FOX. Also, you can watch Teddy un-box the Deluxe Box Set, as well as animated versions The National and Lapsey performing “Bad Stuff Happens in the Bathroom,” in the videos down below.
