“So, a Roman pianist, a Japanese percussionist, and an expatriate experimental American walk into a recording studio…”
While this may be the setup to an excellent joke (yet to be written), for now, it’s just a thing that really happened. And the result is a band called Delivery Health, consisting of Giovanni di Domenico, Jim O’Rourke, and Tatsushisa Yamamoto.
After a self-titled collaboration released in 2015, Delivery Health has dusted off a few tapes from sessions the trio laid down in 2012 and 2013 to create their second album Hard Off, which takes their experimental jazz tinklings into a more “lyrical” direction. (Which… isn’t to say it has any lyrics, but that’s jazz, baby.)
As with many (of the MANY-many) Jim O’Rourke recordings, Hard Off was mixed by JO’R himself in his Steamroom studio and is not likely to hit the slush pile of your average streaming service, so you’ll have to seek it out in physical form. Oh, and there’s only 300 copies printed by the label Silent Water, so… Go, now! Don’t tarry! CONSUME!
