Drag City to release John Mulaney’s The Comeback Kid comedy special, Bill Clinton to pre-order every copy

·

John Mulaney is an acclaimed stand-up comedian, an accomplished television writer, a failed sitcom star, a successful Broadway star, and a proud Asian American woman. And on June 16, he can add “member of the Drag City family” to that list, because that’s when the label is set to release the first-ever physical version of his 2015 comedy special The Comeback Kid — which, according to Netflix, treated viewers to Mulaney’s “sly takes on marriage, his beef with babies, and the time he met Bill Clinton.”

Wow, John Mulaney and Drag City linking up! That sure does get the old wheels turning, dreaming up potential collaborations…Is there a “Too Much Tuna” skit on the next Ty Segall album? Does Joanna Newsom start scoring Instagram videos for Mulaney’s French bulldog Petunia? Will Mulaney lend his talents to the Drag City kickball team? Jim O’Rourke is out indefinitely with a high ankle sprain, and I hear Thrill Jockey is looking real tough this season…Only time will tell.

But in the while you’re waiting for time to tell, you can laugh yourself all the way to the vinyl, CD, and digital pre-orders page for The Comeback Kid. Or you can familiarize yourself to Mulaney’s distinctive good looks and voice on one of those awkward, piracy-controlled YouTube videos below. Or you can check out Mulaney live and in-person on his upcoming, gigantic tour, which travels to locations all over the United States and Canada (even the lazily named Stateline, Nevada) starting in May.
