Who out there’s ready to “dance all night” and “critique this shit civilization of ours” at the same time?
Good, because Dominick Fernow (a.k.a. Purient a.k.a. Vatican Shadow) has just announced — and just in time for the 20th anniversary of his Hospital Productions label, no less — that he’s teaming up with Berlin-based, Berghain-owned techno powerhouse Ostgut Ton for the release of a brand new Vatican Shadow EP, entitled Rubbish of the Floodwaters. (Man, I can only imagine how bad-ass that title sounds in German…)
The new EP, which is out May 12 on both vinyl and digital manifestations, was produced in Los Angeles with Josh Eustis and “casts a full spectrum picture of where the project was born and where it headed.” It also casts some pretty ominous overtones to go along with the addictive, hypnotic pulses that underlie it: the artwork (viewable in-full below) was contributed by Berlin-based photographer Christian Vagt and taken from his Softex series, which “documents the military and police-run refugee camp located on the industrial diaspora near Thessaloniki.”
How exactly are you supposed to “dance all night” to that??? Pre-order the album now, and check-out a few visceral snippets from this strange new boon to humankind to find out for yourself.
