Another equinox, another release from TMT favorite The Caretaker in his slowly disintegrating six-part series on dementia, Everywhere at the end of time. The first installment, Stage 1, was one of our favorites from last year, and if we know anything, it’s that history favours the winners… and has a troubling way of repeating itself.
Stage 2 begins with a chipper sort of lull in its loop, but already signs of wear and depression are overtaking the resplendent and clarion tunes from yesteryear. The songs clip; the audio fidelity is grainy; and some of the records seem a bit warped. I think I even heard some Empty bliss creeping in when I let my mind drift for a moment. But it’s not how I remember.
Anyway, it’s a lovely day. Though the sky looks pale.
From Leyland Kirby:
The second stage is the self realisation and awareness that something is wrong with a refusal to accept that. More effort is made to remember so memories can be more long form with a little more deterioration in quality. The overall personal mood is generally lower than the first stage and at a point before confusion starts setting in.
Stage 2 is available starting today, digitally or on blue or black vinyl.
