After making good on his ambitious promise to release a new Six Organs of Admittance album called Burning The Threshold back on February 24, which focused around such next-level concepts such as “love, forgiveness, reality — and an ever-wider view, with the understanding of our circular path in life” — 6OOA’s taskmaster Ben Chasny decided to issue himself himself a NEW CHALLENGE: “Can I play a DOZEN solo-acoustic shows in different cities all across the European continent entirely within the month of June?”
And apparently? No. He can’t.
Alas, Chasny set the bar a little too high…so he’s “settling” for 11 amazing, intimate shows instead. :’-(
And BOY, does he ever feel bad about that. So-much-so in fact that, to help make up for it, he even took a little trip over to London’s Maida Vale Studios recently for an improvised session with sitar player Baluji Shrivastav and drummer Steve Noble for BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction Session (which you can peep for the next 10 days or so right over here). THAT must kinda count as a European gig, right?
Or…hey, what about the latest music video (watchable below) for Burning The Threshold “Adoration Song,” which was directed by Elisa Ambrogio and “enervates and elevates ones mind with images of the raw majesty of nature and haunting reminders of the unknowable?” Surely THAT helps make up the difference!
You know what? You’re alright, Chasny. Just the way you are! Don’t let the bastards grind you down. <3
