Chicago and Austin: two mighty American cities, anchoring the north and south of our divided nation; each a center for great music, insane food, courteous motorists, and wildly divergent weather patterns. They are also both places which ex-Christmas frontwoman (and soap maker!) Emily Beanblossom can claim for her own, being now in the process of leaving the latter for the former. We wish you well on your journey, Emily! Pro-tips: the beer and vegan food are better in Austin; but Chicago’s got better, uh, non-vegan food…plus, it has an actually functional public transit system and superior regional supermarket chains (Jewel-Osco, what’s up!).
Anyway, though Emily — a.k.a. Ruby Fray — has already captured a certain essence of the Bat City in her 2014 K Records release, Grackle, she is once again reflecting on her time in the capital of Texas on her forthcoming, still-untitled full length, due “soon.” Until SOON happens (could be any day now, really), you can listen to her brand new, excellent track “Honor,” which we have the, uh, honor of premiering for you right here.
Also, in preparation for her relocation and record release — and also because why not? — Ruby Fray will be touring the Western U.S. this August in full-band mode.
