Best Coast continues ancient debate about which coast is better on headlining tour this fall

·

The east-coast/west-coast hip hop rivalry mythos is well-known at this point: in the ’90s, west-coast rapper Tupac Shakur claimed that the west coast was the better of the two coasts; while his rap opponent, The Notorious B.I.G., insisted the opposite. The debate concerning which coast was “best” was never satisfyingly settled, largely due to the fact that the two rappers were murdered before a winner was declared. This tragedy has since produced America’s greatest unsolved mystery: which coast is the better of the two coasts?

Luckily, L.A. band Best Coast will re-engage the debate this fall, as they embark on a series of headlining shows. Their last album was California Nights, which came out back in 2015. One may think that Best Coast’s opinion is that the west coast is the best coast, since they are indeed from California. However, it is just not that simple, since they are playing all over the country. If their enemies were the east coast, why would they travel there to play music and possibly get murdered, like their west coast ancestor Tupac did? It just doesn’t make sense. To further complicate the mystery, Best Coast is playing many of these shows with Paramore, who are from Tennessee, which is not on either coast (Tennessee is in the middle of the country)!

Want to know which coast is really the best coast? Well, sorry; you’ll never find out! You’ll sooner discover that aliens from Area 51 killed J.F.K. and that Bigfoot did 9/11. But feel free to contemplate these mysteries and more at one of the following shows.
