x.y.r. — the nom de guerre of synth explorer Vladimir Karpov — makes music that sounds like the soundtrack for colonizing the loneliest, coldest, Tarkovsky-like moon in the solar system. His latest, Labyrinth, is no exception, though with perhaps a larger concentration on the journey inward, toward the deepest dead-ends of the soul. If there is a Minotaur haunting this particular labyrinth, we’re guessing he will destroy you not with force, but with the slow, steady acceptance of your small role among the infinitude of the cosmos. Yikes!
Labyrinth is now available in digital and vinyl formats, along with *limited edition” companion cassette Reflections, from Not Not Fun
