Tusks premieres title track video from her debut album Dissolve

September is coming up fast, which means saying goodbye to summer very soon. Now is the shitty awkward time when the realization sets in: non-stop days of no-throttle relaxation must make way to hauling ass back to school/work/death. If August is like the Sunday of summer, late August is the post-Dominos-and-bottle-of-wine time when Sunday stops feeling like Sunday and the crippling anxiety of facing another Monday sets in. By tenfold. Breathe, music fans; don’t be like the rest of them. This is the sweet spot of your year, every year. End of festival season means loads of album and fall tour announcements, and we have both — plus an absolutely gorgeous video premiere from Tusks to help you take on the coming week, month, and season like a champ!

Emily Underhill — and as her stage name Tusks — will be on many autumn lips as she releases her debut album Dissolve on October 13 via One Little Indian. The best artists build a way of seeing, unfettered by what’s gone before. Although there are identifiable touchstones and influences on her work, genres and comparisons become redundant quickly with Tusks, but it all holds together with miraculous ease. So, in other words, if you like the predictable and formulaic, you’ve come to the wrong place.

Today we are premiering the title track video from Dissolve and it is sweeping, street-noir, alt-pop anthem that is typical of this wing-spanning artist and producer. Of the video, Underhill says, “as soon as I wrote ‘Dissolve,’ I had a really strong vision for the video of two people fighting on a dimly lit London street at night. We were so lucky with the amazing actors and production team that brought it to life and added in the ideas of shooting the whole thing in reverse in one shot with the changing lights — it adds such a dreamy quality to it.” Heated and loving in equal parts, “Dissolve” is indeed dreamily presented and Underhill’s singing is glorious.

Co-produced with like-minded cohort Brett Cox, Dissolve is available October 13 on LP and CD (pre-order it right here). Except for two London bookend dates, all live dates listed below are with OLI label-mate, the Icelandic multi-instrumentalist Ásgeir.
