Autumn 2017 is effectively upon us, readers. And, while I appreciate the convenient distraction of “pumpkin spiced” bullshit as much as the next millennial asshole, it doesn’t change the fact that all I’ve really been able to focus on since the nights started getting longer and chillier is the painful realization that I haven’t heard any news from Canadian rap monster Drake for, like, months now. Ugh, how unsettling! I mean, I don’t care how much comforting nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, ginger, dried lemon peel, star anise, and carob powders you dump on top of it; that’s still been a bitter-ass pill to swallow.
Luckily, as HotNewHipHop reports, we can all dump that festive seasonal crap in the garbage RIGHT NOW; because, oh yes! Look! It’s…Drake! I can see him, I can see him! He’s rising!! Rising like the Great Pumpkin from up-out the sincere AF pumpkin patch that IS our Champagne Papi-adoring hearts! <3 <3 <3
Yup, according to his Twitter, Drake will be taking his “Boy Meets World” tour to the perennial summer of Australia and New Zealand for a few short-but-sweet weeks this November. The six-date celebration of Drake Almighty will kick off on November 3 in Auckland, New Zealand at the Spark Arena before hopping over to Sydney and Brisbane, ultimately crash landing in Melbourne, Australia on November 20. Tickets for all these shows go on sale THIS FRIDAY, September 15 — and for all of my fellow Northern Hemisphere-ites, just think: using up the rest of your vacation days in November will also provide a perfect excuse not to have to visit with our intolerable families over the holiday season! Kinda genius.
(Oh, and since we’re on the subject: the benevolent 6 God also recently donated a whopping $200,000 towards Hurricane Harvey relief, directing his fans to a page set up by Houston Texans’ defensive end J.J. Watt. The total donation amount for Watt’s page has just passed the $30 million mark (!!!) and continues to grow. You gotta love The Drake!)
