UPDATE (9/18): As promised, Björk has released the video for “The Gate.” The video was made in collaboration with director/artist Andrew Thomas Huang and Gucci’s Alessandro Michele, who designed the gorgeous garment. Watch the video above.
“My healed chest wound
Transformed into a gate
Where I receive love from
Where I give love from”
And just like that, Björk has shared the first single off her forthcoming album. Titled “The Gate,” the six-and-a-half-minute track explores transcendental love from a position of healing and newfound openness, a contrast to the heartbreak and desolation of Vulnicura.
A video for “The Gate,” directed by Andrew Thomas Huang, is coming soon, debuting first this weekend (September 16-17) at London’s The Store Studio. And don’t forget the limited single-sided 12-inch version of “The Gate,” which is out September 22 via One Little Indian (and available now for pre-order).
Meanwhile, Björk’s still-unnamed new album is expected sometime in November. More on that expected very, yrev soon.
