Is it always cold in Copenhagen? I’ve never been, but if the arctic, alien music of Danish label Posh Isolation is to be believed, it must be hard to avoid frostbite up there. Now with the first frigid winds of winter comes the news that Posh Isolation’s founder Loke Rahbek has teamed up with label mainstay Frederik Valentin for a new album, out December 1 on Editions Mego. You better stock up on open-faced cheese sandwiches before clicking play on their first single, “Somersault,” a cavernous track that’s sure to lower you core temperature.
Listeners may be most familiar with Rahbek as one half of experimental duo Damien Dubrovnik, whose album Vegas Fountain caught our fancy in 2015 and who served up another healthy dose of shocking, emotional tunes in 2017 with Great Many Arrows. Valentin, on the other hand, has been singlehandedly making music for Posh Isolation for some years as KYO.
Buy Corals Online is this pair’s first collaboration, and it’s very invested in the concept of “floating” (watch out Pennywise, you’ve got some goosebumps-giving competition!)

According to Editions Mego, the record was inspired by “the floating world,” a conceptual imaginary universe born of Japan’s Edo period that is filled with extravagance, luxury, and depravity. Spooky—yet fun!
Anyway, put on your fur coat and listen to “Somersault” down below. If your fingers aren’t too numb afterwards, you can click here to pre-order it (and head here to learn more about the crew of Posh Isolation over at Resident Advisor, where it’s currently their label of the month).
