The Soft Moon shares NEW single “Burn” from NEW album Criminal on NEW label Sacred Bones

·

It takes a bold mind to start your album with a morally-charged, emotionally-fraught first-person confessional, but The Soft Moon has always shown both form and mass, increasingly revealing more of its past, heart, and darker motivations with each new release. The track in question is called “Burn,” and it is the opening track on Luis Vasquez’s latest album as The Soft Moon, due February 2, 2018.

Criminal is the fourth album from The Soft Moon and first on the glorious Sacred Bones label. The record title is apt, as many of Criminal’s songs deal with a caught Vasquez coming to terms with personal insecurities and weaknesses, and confessing past sins and misdeeds. Guilt takes center stage lyrically, but the music remains superbly dramatic yet mature and reflective. Watch the video for the jarring avowal “Burn” below.

So, yeah, good things come to those who wait, but good things also come to those anxious, restless, unbearable, blood-thirsty weasels like us! “New album in February” is all well and good, but you’ll be pleased as pie to hear that The Soft Moon will be performing live very soon. A few US dates have been announced — starting October 19 in San Francisco — and because festival season never really ends, there are three Euro festival dates too. Check out these events, Criminal’s tracklisting, and the dark-hearted “Burn” video below.
