The skyscrapers are now covered in moss and ivy, kissing the smoggy sky. Foxes and deer wander past broken down cars, stepping on glass and chewing up decade-old cigarette butts. There’s only six of us here. Who knew the near-extinction of humanity would be so serene?

Carbon levels rose, the river beds dried up, whole countries stopped breathing and the few survivors now occupy natural areas that are distantly-spaced out. It’s funny, there’s a new energy to the Earth. The other’s can feel it too. She breathes with excitement over the idea of a slow rejuvenation and regrowth.

At night, If I put my ear to the ground, I swear can hear her gently cooing: Si sh oh, si sh oh.

One day it will be like we were never here.
