Need some new recording gear? Got no money with which to purchase it? Possess a deep affinity for the scuzzy rock and roll of The Dead Milkmen? Here’s an idea: join the Dead Milkmen’s recently-announced remix contest!
In order to enter, you’ll need to put together a killer remix of the Dead Milkmen’s single “The Brutalist Beat,” off their brand new EP Welcome to the End of the World, which dropped on October 17.
The satirically-inclined punks have partnered with TASCAM to hold the remix contest, for which prizes will include a TASCAM Track Factory recording system, a DP-006 digital recorder, some TH-MX2 studio headphones, some custom FM synth patches created by the Dead Milkmen’s very own Rodney Anonymous, signed test pressings, t-shirts, “and more.”
Welcome to the End of the World is out on The Giving Groove, a socially conscious Philly label that donates half of all its after tax album proceeds to music-related nonprofits. The money from donated from sales of Welcome to the End of the World will go to Girls Rock Philly, which provides music mentorship programs to girls, women, trans and non-gender conforming people in the Philadelphia area. So, if you want to get your sleeze-punk fix AND help out a worthy cause, head here to get your copy.
