Yo La Tengo announce 2018 European and North American tour, might finally learn English

·

Yo La Tengo, one of TIME’s Top 25 Most Culturally Confused Indie Bands Based on Name Alone, is hitting out on the road again like their ol’ pal Jack Kerouac in what is notably their largest (and widest) tour since the 2015 release of their “covers” album, Stuff Like That There. Not only that, they’re also taking to the skies and probably riding in at least one boat — and maybe even a tauntaun, because this thing is sending them allllll ooooover: from our salty American shores, to the slightly less salinated cliffs of mainland Europe, to the entirely salt-free U.K. (Hey, maybe they’ll finally be able to learn English — or Spanish, for that matter!)

If this sounds like the kind of tour you want to buy tickets for, wear an old T-shirt circa I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One to, and wait out backstage to catch one sweet glimpse of Ira Kaplan emerging from the bathroom at; you’re (probably) in luck. The tour will take the band from the American Midwest to the East Coast in March and April of next year, then out to the U.K. and Western Europe (with a few gracious stops in Eastern Europe) throughout May, before bringing it all back home like their ol’ pal Bobby Dylan to the American West Coast in June. What a lovely little spring fling that will be!

The band also has an eight date residency at New York’s Bowery Ballroom through December for Hanukkah, but they’re all sold out so why am I even telling you?! For a full list of dates you totally STILL CAN buy tickets to (sorry to you TMTers inexplicably reading this in 2019 and beyond), check out the sleekly formatted itinerary below. In any case, may your hearts always beat as one!

Now, then: a little travelin’ music, if you please:
