Florida hardcore band Gouge Away join Deathwish roster, promise new album in 2018 as long as you stop begging

·

Ah, spring: a time of rebirth, renewal, and reprieve from the desolate sorrow of the winter months. Has there ever been a better time to sign a hardcore band from Ft. Lauderdale to your legendary independent extreme music label?? According to the fine folks at Deathwish…no! Which is why they’ve just announced the signing of hardcoretet Gouge Away. And as if that wasn’t enough to thaw the chill in your bones, they’ve already revealed that a new album is “coming in 2018”! And they say millennials have no work ethic!

Gouge Away features vocalist Christina Michelle, guitarist Mick Ford, and inseparable drum-’n’-bassers Tommy Cantwell and Tyler Forsythe for music that “[takes] cues from bands such as Unwound, The Jesus Lizard, and Fugazi.” Michelle reportedly met Touché Amoré vocalist Jeremy Bolm in 2012 (probably at some kind of Florida hardcore vocalists conference), which led to a tour — and a friendship — for the ages. Bolm will join the band at the Atomic Garden studio this April as co-producer for their upcoming album alongside Jack Shirley (ultra-hip producer of Deafheaven, Jeff Rosenstock, and Oathbreaker), where music will be made and good times will be had. Hey, at least someone is enjoying 2018!

If you want to know more about Gouge Away, why don’t you do the obvious and check out their past releases, including the brash, intense, and grammatically-incorrectly-titled , Dies. OR you could do the second-most obvious thing and read the full press-release about the signing on Deathwish’s website. ALTERNATIVELY, you could join me in doing literally nothing until this album drops. Of course, I’ve already done the first two things, so I guess that’s cheating?
