Tuck your doilies into your shirts, kiddos, cuz we’ve got a nice big juicy one for ‘ya: earlier this morning the Industry Royalty ™ over at RCA Records announced that Lykke Li (a.k.a Lady Gaga’s Swedish doppleganger), will be dropping her fourth studio album, so sad so sexy, on the officially verified date of June 8.
If you remember correctly, Lykke hasn’t released an album since 2014’s I Never Learn, which (need we remind you?) was received by rapturous acclaim by pretty much everyone, including the “Other” Industry Royalty ™ folks over at Time Magazine.
We’d typically be irked over the fact that such a pop culture treasure would disappear from the world for such an extended period of time; but in truth, Lykke has been busy as shit over the last few years. In addition to helping establish a kickass Mexican liquor brand and establishing supplemental infamy with her indie-pop supergroup liv, she also found time to secure an acting gig alongside Ryan Gosling and Natalie Portman in the music/dramance film Song to Song, which may or may not have been nominated for several Academy Awards this year (probably not).
The defiantly lower-cased so sad so sexy is currently available for pre-order; but before you go leave little ol’ TMT behind to do that, be sure to check out the brand new album tracks “deep end” and “hard rain,” which were just released earlier today.
Also, be on the lookout for some rollicking festival performances from Lykke this summer, as she’s already set to play BBC’s Biggest Weekend Festival in Belfast, All Points East in London, and Chicago’s Lollapalooza, among several others.
