Ah, the art of crate digging. Those of us not afflicted by scavenging record store bins may never understand the addiction. Until, that is, we hear the fruits of the labor ourselves.
Exhibit A: a plucky album called Onda De Amor: Synthesized Brazilian Hits That Never Were (1984-94), striking just when the summer iron is hottest. We have Brazilian DJ Millos Kaiser to thank for these crate-diggingly deep cuts, all taken from 1980s and 1990s Brazil (as if Via Negromonte’s sweaty keytar pose in the liner notes didn’t make it totally obvious).
The “Wave of Love” crests next month courtesy of Soundway. The first single, Dodô Da Bahia & As Virgens De Porto Seguro’s “Africamerica,” is your new jam. Hear snippets from all the other tracks (if you’re not already convinced) and grab the full album now on CD and LP ahead of its release date of July 13 — which might just turn out to be the hottest day of the year.
