Packed with Tiny Mix Tapes favorites such as Via App and Cienfuegos, this 30-track compilation was released in the wake of the 70th anniversary of Al Nakba, the commemoration of the forcible expulsion of 750,000 Palestinians from their homes, and the move of the US embassy to Jerusalem, with all proceeds going to Adalah, a Palestinian-run non-profit for the aid of Arab minorities in Israel. Urgent, tense, and treading far closer to its focal subject matter than most charity compilations dare to tread, this raw compilation by Jaclyn Kendall is an astonishingly strong survey of a certain strain of terse electronic music and a certain strain of artistic acts of resistance. It’s rare to happen across something at once so varied, expansive and focused. Taken as a whole, its an impressive and urgent statement.
