Maybe it was just a slightly different mix, or maybe Liz Harris herself had just ascended to her natural position amid the fog of the Pacific Northwest when tracking her vocals — but Grouper’s latest album Grid of Points (one of our recent new favs) sounds way lighter than the preceding album Ruins. Gone are the days in which Harris preferred to keep her voice safely submerged underwater; and, seemingly, also relinquished is her previous tendency to mysteriously vanish from public view after just one or two intimate, breathtaking performances.
That’s right: Grouper is going on a (relatively) MEGA WORLDWIDE tour in support of the new album! Expect stage-diving if there is a stage! Expect autographs if you have black ink (only) handy! Expect post-show smiles and glad-handing that would rival the efforts of your average politician!
Okay, I might be exaggerating just a little bit, but who knows? Maybe you can at least hold out hope for an ice cream social after the lights go down and audience members have finished desecrating their handkerchiefs. Harris has dates scheduled both stateside and abroad beginning this September. Check out the full list below and pay for Grid of Points here…or at least give it a stream down below:
