These days, more is always more, and more is always what we want. So, when someone important comes through with more goods than the pittance we deserve we’ll take it, cherish it, and ask for no more. Modular explorer Caterina Barbieri will release a new full length AND a split album with Eleh in August, both on Important Records.
The terrifically-titled Born Again in the Voltage contains Barbieri Buchla 200, voice, and cello creations recorded over the span of a year in Stockholm at Elektronmusikstudion in 2014-2015. For lovers of minimalist electro-acoustic moodshapes, the LP is an unconditional must, pitting the SHAPE-affiliated artist against her preferred conceptual constraints of interpreting how sound affects object oriented perception and human states of consciousness. Born Again in the Voltage is out August 10 and can be pre-ordered here.
Released on the same day is a split record by the perfect pairing of the Berlin-based Italian Barbieri and the parts unknown fellow frequency fiend Eleh. Contributing “Bestie Infinite” and “Wear Patterns” respectively, Barbieri and Eleh take microtonal control of primary waveforms and polyrhythmic harmonics to new levels on the split LP, which can be pre-ordered through Important here.
