Sneaks shares “The Way It Goes,” details new album Highway Hypnosis

·

Evidenced by its inclusion on the “overlooked albums” year-end lists of multiple reputable institutions, Sneaks’ It’s a Myth certainly flew under the proverbial radar. Even here at TMT, we managed to let it slip by unnoticed — which is shame, because it’s a good album that you should listen to. We cannot, however, change the past. All we can hope to do is not repeat its mistakes, so as to allow future generations to prosper.

Accordingly: hey, there’s a new Sneaks album coming out soon! Highway Hypnosis is set for release in January from Merge Records.

Whereas It’s a Myth was a stark approach to post-punk, incorporating little else than bass, drum machine, and deadpan vocals; Highway Hypnosis seems like it will expand the horizons of the Sneaks sound. Among several others, Robyn, Nirvana, a hacky sack circle, and — most importantly in my mind — Jock Jams are all cited as influences that can be heard in the DNA of Highway Hypnosis.

Listen to the good stuff for yourself by checking out “The Way It Goes,” the new single off of Highway Hypnosis, down below. Also make sure to check out the album’s artwork and tracklisting. Sneaks only have a few tour dates at the moment, but have announced the album’s release show on their home turf of Washington, DC, with more shows expected to come.

Highway Hypnosis is out via Merge Records on January 25, and can be pre-ordered here.
