Tiny Mix Tapes

Brooklyn’s top arch pop orchestra Tredici Bacci to release new album on NNA Tapes in March, share video for “In the 1970s”

·

There’s a misguided tendency to conflate the biggest with the best, but, despite our learned minimalist leanings, sometimes we need music to have a bit more, more, more! What can we say? We like. big. BANDS, and we cannot liiiiie. And when it comes to “big bands,” nothing is ever too “more” than Simon Hanes’ never-predictable, lean-ly arranged pop ensemble Tredici Bacci.

On March 8, the sometimes 20-piece group will release its new album entitled La Fine del Futuro on the always fine, future-peering NNA Tapes. Today, it shares its new wack-tastic video for the album highlight “In the 1970s.”

Featuring its unique blend of Morricone-inspired soundtrack soundz, 70’s soft ‘n’ pomp rock, and the inimitable voice of Sami Stevens, Tredici Bacci is never (well, rarely!) over-campy but always fun “AF” (do people still text that?). As bandleader Hanes says, “Here’s what I’ve realized with crystal clarity — if you’re collaborating with the right people, working hard, staying focused and making sure to have fun, music can flow out of you like a fucking tidal wave!”

Pre-orders for the La Fine del Futuro CD, DL, and LP can be found here and here. And you can also check out the tasty waves of the Christmas-y “Emmanuelle” (feat. JG Thirlwell) — as well as a Peter Nichols-animated, quickie album trailer — before you put your keys in a bowl and swing the night away with “In the 1970s” below:
