Dis Fig announces debut album Purge on PTP, premieres single

·

Best known for her genre-splicing DJ sets that merge doom metal, industrial techno and Atlanta trap; Berlin-based producer Dis Fig (a.k.a. Felicia Chen) has announced her debut album, Purge, out March 15 via the fittingly nonconformist PTP label.

As iconoclastic as her mixes, the record augments its deconstructed club soundscapes with screeched vocals and orchestral composition — Sasha Perera of Perera Elsewhere lends trumpet to two tracks.

“[Purge] is when you reach that moment which makes your brow furrow because your chest is getting hot and something is about to erupt,” Chen said in a press release. “When the feeling starts crawling up your neck, choking you, and you could try to make it stop but maybe it’s better for you if you don’t. When what comes out is painful — it’s tragic, it’s crippling. But with it comes a sliver of beauty. It’s burning and it’s stunning. When it’s over, you may learn by staring at the embers.”

You too can join in the volcanic catharsis: stream Purge’s first (suitably-titled) single, “Unleash,” down below, pre-order the album from PTP here, and peep its slated artwork (by Jeremiah Carter) and full tracklisting while you’re at it.
