Miss Red announces new album produced by The Bug, premieres video for “Prayers”

·

Take a picture, it lasts longer. We’ve heard the adage many times, but it seems to hold less and less true as the megapixels in our phones increase. A natural vista looks not as majestic with the Walden filter thrown on top of it. The sharp clarity of video, with its inevitable shakiness, can do nothing but compound the issue. So when a video travelogue emerges that exhibits even a whisper of what it must have felt like to be there, well, we should all take notice.

Miss Red’s new track “Prayers” is a stellar candidate of the above pontificating. The final number from the forthcoming The Four Bodies (produced by The Bug) is a departure for the singer, a spooky ambient break from her usually confrontational songs. The grainy, hair-streaked video complements the wispy ephemera of the track, a nostalgic look back at Red’s travels across the globe. In her words:

I shot this film during my travels and edited it to reflect the massive contrasts in my life, both future, present and past. I wanted it to be a poetic kaleidoscope of abstract dreams, stolen moments and flashbacks, that illuminates the contradictions that appear in my path and in Israel generally. A nation overflowing with joy, sorrow, beauty and horror, where division, political corruption and war surface too often. But the landscapes themselves, and those people with true love in their hearts radiate beauty in a Babylonian state.
