“Great set.” *High five*
“Great set.” *High five*
“Great set.” *High five*
As the audience members at The Defile in Nashville left the venue late on July 26, 2019, each high-fiving with enthusiasm David Lee Price and Erik Highter, who stood at the exit receiving these compliments with exhausted good humor, a spell once cast was slowly dissipating. Forty-two straight minutes of anything will do that to you, but forty-two straight minutes of modular synths and bent circuits will REALLY do that to you. Over that time, throughout “Breckenridge’s Scourge,” Price and Highter as HEP LAD overwhelmed everyone’s senses with sonic dopamine; they might as well have been performing in a planetarium. Or in the heart of a quasar. Maybe they were the quasar! Regardless, sound blasts emanated like interstellar radio waves until that’s all anyone could even perceive anymore.
The only response was, of course:
“Great set.” *High five*
“Great set.” *High five*
“Great set.” *High five*
Et cetera.
