Hellooooooooo...Detroit rock city!!! Are you ready for 44 minutes of baritone ukulele?! Granted, it's a pleasant-sounding instrument, like a well-played recorder, but I'm not sure if it's strong enough to carry an entire LP. The constant plastic strum is broken up by a light violin here and a weird, warped vocal effect there like on "Build A Computer," but is never really upstaged. It just keeps going and going and going and going...Lawd a' mercy! In fairness and honesty, No Guts No Gravy is a very nice, simple, straightforward ukulele folk album, but I have to say that either something isn't coming across in the recording that does live or this CD is just plain boring. Hanner, played by New York native Johanna Wright, certainly has some talent in the art department though, having designed all the artwork for her projects as well as making something of a living off selling it in the street. We've probably not heard the last of her.
