After nearly one year of audible absense, Young Prisms are back! Well, that’s not entirely true. Sometimes I can’t help but to partake in yellow journalism. My bad. Anywho, now that that lie is in the past, the good news is Stefanie Hodapp and Giovanni Betteo — two former members of the band that created this steaming nugget of gold — have teamed up once again, this time as Breather. And oh boy, do they bring the goods, albeit in a low-key sorta way. Like, cuz, you know, who cares, right? Oh wait, ME!!!!!!!
The newly formed twosome has five, count ‘em, FIVE tracks available on their SoundCloud, but the one I keep coming back to is “Montana” (ft. J. Weinberg), mostly because it’s great, but also because I have exceptionally high hopes that the featured J. Weinberg is in fact the rebellious son of famed drummer Max Weingberg, who, in a desperate attempt to thwart his fathers’ efforts to make him a great drummer, has chosen to program drum machines in a shoegaze band instead of actually playing the drums. One can only dream.
