Brush off your dancing shoes: synth pop reinvention is HERE and it’s not gonna be here FOREVER (because, y’know, eventually all music fades and gets reinvented and recycled, and new ideas replace old ones as generations and decades come and go) so you better seize the fucking MOMENT and get out there.
ATL’s Breathers, who thrivein the arena of dance-hits-with-synth-drums-and-vocoders-etc, recently dropped a cassette single titled “1-800-PAIN,” featuring not one but TWO tracks from their to-be-released-this-fall debut album, Designed to Break, a title I love, because it stirs within me fond memories of voting for Fantasia Barrino, a 2004 American Idol contestant from my home state, via a 1-800 number. She has a great voice but over a decade later I must say that I wish her rise to fame had been more fruitful.
I digress — breathe in, breathe out, folks, and put on these new oh-so-poppy Breathers joints, and maybe dial 1-800-PAIN, although I’m not sure what you’ll hear if you do that. But, stream the new tracks below!
