DJ George Costanza, one half of noise pop/rainbow rockers Extreme Animals, just dropped one of 2k15’s most essential mixes. The “Cringeworthy Mix” from Costanza (real name David Wightman) remixes the sappy, early to mid-2000s MOR artists your parents, and I, still listen to, including Counting Crows, David Gray, and James Blunt. Unlike Costanza’s previous Pop Punk and Country Rap mixes, which more or less used the original songs, “Cringeworthy” is all about the club-style remix. I’ll mess with this one anytime of the day, from crunching numbers at work to gettin’ hyped for the club.
Forget everything else you were planning on listening to this month. “Cringeworthy” demands your attention, and it caps off a remarkable trilogy of mixes that have given me a new appreciation for the source material. Full honesty, though: I still jam David Gray’s “Babylon.” It’s just a damn good song, and I assume Costanza feels the same way? Tracklist below!
