Brooklyn’s own Kent Odessa is taking an introspective tone for his next record, exemplified by “Separate Lives,” the first single from his forthcoming Allies. The track situates itself inside a minimal, claustrophobic beginning before opening up into a sparkling central theme. The overall vibe is a change from Odessa’s synthpop leanings; maybe that it was written in a remote northern Michigan town during early winter has something to do with it.
Catch Odessa at New York City’s Mercury Lounge on December 16, and stay tuned for 2019 tour details in Los Angeles, Mexico City, Paris, Berlin, and London. Allies will drop in 2019.
