This will be my third post in a row about a duo! Though, I’m into duos because: collaboration forever!
Lily Pickett and Justin Caguiat are musicians, artists, partners, and new parents, and I’m here to present their February release of Jade is to bathtub as soap is to bell by Richmond-based gallery and publishing house The Sunroom. Jade is to bathtub as soap is to bell was also the name of their 2017 art exhibition at The Sunroom, which you can see photos and videos of here. The documentation of the tinkling music box, which features heavily in Lily’s tracks, are particularly enchanting. More motifs of childhood, seen in song titles like “Spider” and “Frog,” and work titles like “With your children, in the grass, in the fungus” add other play-house textures.
Stream the release in full below, and read a little bit more about the CD at AQNB.
