Lyonnais’ newest single “Vienna Circles” off their newest Geographic North LP, Anatomy of the Image sounds a heck of a lot like that one Z-Rock (Ween & The Boredoms) track, “God In My Bed.” Maybe not, I dunno. But harnessing that storyteller vibe, preaching a message lyrically as powerful as the instrumental. Between that stready beat, organ moaning, string strumming, and bold vocals, screeching guitar comes in like a bucket of oil on a bee-wax candle, burning down all framework so a bellowing sax arrives just in time for the requiem. “Vienna Circles” only marks Lyonnais’ first single, leaving listeners in toe-curling anticipation for more.
Featuring TJ Blake on drums (Lotus Plaza member) and Lee Tesche gutting guitars (member of Algiers), and Geographic North co-founders Farzad Moghaddam (bass, synths) and Farbod Kokabi (guitar, vocals), Lyonnais will ensnare your life, and won’t let go until you’ve completely triumphed with Anatomy of the Image. The LP/digital is available April 22 on Geographic North, but can be pre ordered HERE. Listen for yourself:
