The current live drummer for Machine Girl (!) and percussive noise artist Sean Kelly, based in Queens, is the newest add-on to Detroit noise riot brigade Visual Disturbances. His solo project Mankid released Mankid 2 on August 6. A four-track sequel to his self-released, logically named Mankid 1. His frantic drumming speeds over drone loops and recorded conversation with the likes of a Brian Chippendale-built noise cabinet. The tone of Mankid 2 is bleak, but Mankid’s undaunted drumming is combatant, hacking at the dense, unlit thickit as to forge its own path.
Mankid 2 is out now digitally and on a limited 25 cassette run.
