There’s a cyclical being to avant and free music. You have the players/performers who exert a life force of fervorous will to project. Then the audience who is challenged by this display of will. The acceptance of individual why, or “What exactly am I observing here?” Thus: challenge of communication from within through a medium of device that only transformation of the acoustic surroundings can audibly crumble. And — once again — Weird Cry Records went exactly there with Marshall Trammell / Rob Magill Duo in The Beat Up Lung. This is the type of album folks witness in person and laugh to and read like a Tolstoy novel while slowly drinking a glass of water; it ain’t sipping until you hydrated:
