C.H.U.D., for the uninitiated, was a B-movie horror released in 1984 about radioactive mutants living in New York’s sewer system and eating homeless people. The title acronym stands for Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers, which basically sums up the film. One time when I was a small child living in Valley Stream, my dad took me to a local video store and upon seeing this VHS on the shelves, knowingly said something to the effect of, “Oh, this movie’s a total piece of shit. We’re renting this!” Later, we would return to rent the sequel, C.H.U.D. II: Bud the C.H.U.D., which would probably have to be considered a D-movie.
On October 3, Waxwork Records will release C.H.U.D. The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on 180 gram vinyl in two color schemes — Toxic Waste Puddle (shown above) and Flesh with Blood Splatter (shown here). The soundtrack has been restored, remixed and mastered from the original master tapes in collaboration with its composers Martin Cooper and David Hughes, and is now available for pre-order.
