this sort of long-lasting boiler act worked in the cinema. the theater-goers were given glowsticks and dared by the ushers to find their way out “if they think they have what it takes.” the theater-goers fell about one another — stubbing toes, folding seats, falling buckets, clanging bottles, tripping over — while the ushers leaned back in the wings, mildly amused and laughing like clowns. one theater-goer rode the back of another theater-goer, who started bucking and going ape-wild, thrashing about, knocking an usher square against the carpeted wall. it was at this point the ushers curbed their laughter; at this point, the sound of snot and panic occupied the aisles and bumped against their chests.
