Mirror Universe Tapes has risen from their six-month hibernation bright-eyed and brimming with proto-punk sincerity on the latest addition to their catalog: a cassingle released in tandem with the start of New Berlin’s Northeast-to-Great-Plains tour.
Despite their German handle, the trio hails from Texas and runs on late-70s British sentiment. Paired with a snot-nosed cover of The Ramones’ “California Sun”, “Roosevelts at 7” arrives reeking of a suburban garage’s exhaust fumes. Yawping lead guitar that recalls Television’s bluesier melodies trades places with Michael Flanagan’s charming surf-rock delivery. This is as warm and buttery as punk gets :*).
