This is a bit surprising to me, actually. Delightfully surprising, none-the-less. But I would’ve never expected Rob Magill to release something like Low Pulse - Hydra on his label Weird Cry Records. However, after hearing the intonations of Tonal Organ Life (TMT Review), it makes sense he’d move a bit closer to the amalgamations of Phaser Horse.
Most importantly, Low Pulse - Hydra is a tricky release for listeners, as Phaser Horse steeps those EDM beats by way of ambient drone zones. Yeah, one could dance to this both in sync and abstractly, but the certainty in creative thought possession here is boundless. You could go future retro. You could go inside your computer via headphones. You could go into that dream state of being a robot by-way of hypnosis. All I know is Rob Magill continues to find music magicians daring enough to expand your mind grapes. Wine is below:
