The most recent single from the Cozy Tapes (the late A$AP Yam’s concept for a collective project featuring A$AP Mob and associates) finds Playboi Carti and UnoTheActivist thriving in simple yet infectious territory. Carti handles minute-long hook duties with a repetitious bounce (“what, what, what, what”), while Uno taps into drill-leaning flows, all atop a woozy trap-anthem of a beat from Chris Fresh; not textbook A$AP Mob fare, sure, but it brings a new angle to their musical palette courtesy of Carti and Uno’s Atlanta roots.
The accompanying visuals for “What” were produced by the Mob’s in-house artistic team, AWGE, and feature head-boss A$AP Rocky helping his young associates flip a country club upside down with lean-filled wine glasses in tow. Peep the music video below and expect to hear the Cozy Tapes in its entirety later this summer.
