Isn’t it crazy that cassettes are still a thing?
Uh, noooooo. Stop with the articles already. Tapes never disappeared. See: trades at shows, decks warming and glowing in the foreground, “to listen to” piles stacked on shelves, cracked cases on the ground, tiny screwdrivers, flipping from A to B on the daily, etc. [O=O]
Need further proof? Well, the Japan-based label Ginjoha recently released the beautifully assembled Syzygy from cosmic duo Quartz Safari. Now, that sells it for me. How’s about you?
Regarding the contents of the album, according to the band:
This is our most ambitious album yet, merging all kinds of influences ranging from electronic music and psych-rock to jazz, funk & hip-hop. We wanted to go much further on this one and feel other planets. It’s also our first time trying out different approaches to composition, different textures and dynamics, as well as new instruments.
Enticing, no? Oh, did I mention this stinking tape is still available?!
