Samantha Vacation, a.k.a. Daryl Seaver from Maine, first made waves with her excellent 2013 12-inch for L.I.E.S. Now she’s making even fresher waves with her latest release, CD-R, except the waves here are made not of metaphor, but of electron particles, ferociously vibrating in the vicinity from which you are said to “exist,” mapping out elemental sequences with a stuttered, programmatic house of nonsense. Her music pings you in and out sensate focus with its horrific stabs and bleeding synthetics, a meeting of eMego materialism, early-90s acid house, and the playful, malleable harmonies of the 21st-century automaton as heard through a cone. Look for Samantha Vacation’s CD-R on Jeff Witscher (Rene Hell)’s Salon imprint. And if you can’t get enough, make your way here for more incredible mindfuckery.
