It’s Friday night, I just drank a cup of coffee, and the panic of knowing I will be bouncing off the wall well past my pre-ordained bedtime of 10PM sets in. I’m ripping Bob Mould CDs from the library onto my laptop, remembering this was once the highlight of many a weekend night growing up in suburban Wisconsin. So Drove, fka Schwarz, has eased many a stressful time in my life. His positive anthems have pulled me out of some truly bleak head spaces, you feel me?
SoDrove’s recent collaboration with Pictureplane, a cover of Primitive Radio Gods’ “Standing Outside A Broken Phone Booth with Money in my Hand,” is really speaking to me. I don’t have a lot of history with this tune; in fact, I was convinced this was on Moby’s Play for the longest time. But there’s no doubt a lot of emotions are swelling up as I listen.
